The DJI Osmo Action was essentially an opponent of GoPro's simple Hero models, and now the Action 2 has become a bit like it has singled out the Session as its rival. We can talk about an amazingly compact solution, but with the modular design everything can be solved with high quality and flexibility.  In the modular line, Insta360 had a very good attempt before, but the One R was undeservedly neglected.  Well, let's look at Action 2.

The name Osmo was given by DJI, but this is irrelevant, we can still talk about a product blessed with an excellent stabilization system (RockSteady 2.0), which will try to satisfy the needs of many.  The novelty uses a 12-megapixel sensor (1/1.7 inch), which will be able to record videos in 4K Ultra HD quality (the Hero10 can also record 5.3K).

Action 2 doesn't support higher resolutions, but there's a 120 FPS recording option for 4K, so there's hardly any criticism from that point of view.  A bit rate of 130 Mbps is the ceiling for recordings, while GoPro set the upper limit at 100 Mbps.

The product's lens system has a 155-degree field of view (F/2.8), so you'll see everything that's in front of you.  It can even be fixed magnetically, and what's more, DJI actually considers magnetic fixation to be the primary thing here.  In this way, it will be possible to easily and quickly snap the device to different places, and the action camera can even be worn on clothes without the use of any kind of straps.

The device has a 1.76-inch AMOLED display, which will allow you to easily manage the device's settings, but otherwise this product can be controlled from a mobile phone.  The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass so that there is no problem with it in the field.  By taking advantage of the modular structure, it will be possible to add another display to the Action 2, which looks forward, thus creating a good configuration for vloggers as well.

Thanks to the extremely effective stabilization, the device will be able to record amazingly smooth videos in all situations.  With HorizonSteady, the structure will aim for horizontal shots in all situations.  The company has kept all the previous recording modes, so there will be timelapse, live streaming, and a slow motion option among others.  The latter can take place at a maximum of 240 FPS with a standard Full HD resolution - the Hero10 is capable of 2.7K at the same pace.

The device will also record audio in high quality, even if this is not necessarily its primary task.  DJI built a four-microphone "matrix stereo" system into the camera, which can also be used for voice control, which has become more advanced than before.  The DJI Mimo application will be able to provide the camera with better video editing options than before, and it will also be able to intelligently cut the materials by itself.

The device can also be used without a microSD card, which is useful if, for example, you forgot to bring a card with you, or you want to record it while saving the recordings from the card to an external data carrier.  This is not the case with GoPros, although it should also be added that here too we can only talk about 32 GB, which does not provide that much room for maneuver.

The Aciton 2 is waterproof without any kind of case, it will withstand pressure up to 10 meters, so it will be possible to take on even easier diving without having to put it in a case, but otherwise a case is being prepared for it if you have to dive deeper than that.  The camera has a very durable aluminum casing, and despite its small size, it will create an unusually massive impression.

The DJI Aciton 2 will be deployed in even more places than the Osmo Action, thanks to its small size.  Action 2 is shockingly easy, really.  The structure weighs only 56 grams, and everything is included to be used, only extra options are available with the magnetic modules.  The GoPro Hero10 is almost 100 grams heavier than this product, so we can talk about a third of it now.

In addition to the compact design, there is only room for a 580 mAh battery under the cover, but it will still be able to record video for 70 minutes without a break.  And if you buy a battery module for the action camera, you can extend this to 180 minutes.  This battery module will also include an extra microSD card slot so that the device does not run out of storage space even during longer video sessions.
